About Summit BPWThe Summit BPW chapter was founded in 1955 by Helen Dooley Edwards, a local entrepreneur and business owner. At the time, the club met an important need by providing an opportunity for working women to meet each other, share experiences and develop their skills through activities and networking. The founders aspired to help other women succeed in their chosen careers at a time when there was little, if any support for them in the workplace. Through the years, even as career opportunities have expanded for women, there is still a need for the same networking and support for personal and professional development. The National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc., known as BPW/USA, merged with BPW Foundation in 2009. The Foundation continues to be an advocate nationally for millions of workingwomen on work-life balance and workplace equity issues. As the founders envisioned, Summit BPW still offers opportunities for personal and professional development for women in the workplace. through mentoring, networking and educational programs available locally and through our state organization, BPW NJ.
